szavaz.at - I am currently trying to create a starting for learning about voting and electoral systems in Hungarian. Knowledge in this field is scattered among different field and experts, with a scarcity of introductory materials to the public. I plan to gradually expand this site to give a comprehensive overview of a variety of social choice topics, hopefully in an accessible manner.
"Artwork" based on a voting puzzle I designed
I have been always eager to consult with various organizations on the best voting methods for their specific needs, including student unions, scientific student research groups, colleges for advanced studies and political movements.
Equal suffrage in Hungarian electoral systems: constitutional questions of the electoral threshold and vote transfers
In this paper for the student scienfitic research circle (TDK), I argue for a more substantive interpretation of equality in the context of electoral systems. I challenge the court's somewhat inconsistent definition understanding based on some false premises and a very minimal definition of equality with internal contradictions, using the vote transer mechanisms as examples. I also dispute the justifications of artificial limitations on equal suffrage such as the specific type of electoral threshold in the Hungarian electoral system.
Mixed ballot transferable vote (MBTV)
I wrote my thesis on mixed-member electoral systems using vote transfer mechanics, inspired by the system used to elect the Hungarian National Assembly. In this work, I focused on winner compensation and ways to equalize the value of votes in the compensatory framework. I outlined a new family of similar electoral systems under the name of Mixed Ballot Transferable Vote (MBTV). You can find the thesis here.
I plan to dive deeper into the theoretical aspects of the topic and welcome any feedback, criticism or suggestions based on my work so far.
